Frequently Asked Questions About Internships

Eligibility depends on the pathway you’re applying for. In general, we look for current students working toward an associate or bachelor’s degree in a field related to that internship. Not sure if your major fits? Apply anyway! We’ve had interns join us from unexpected backgrounds and thrive in their position.

Internships are based out of Burke Construction Group’s headquarters, located at the address below. Accounting/Finance, Marketing/Brand, and VD&C interns work primarily in the office, with job site tours built in to give you a firsthand look at the industry. Operations interns are placed on an active project, so your time on-site versus in the office will depend on what phase that project is in.

Yes, our programs are designed with structured learning models that may qualify for course credit if offered by your university.

The Burke Builds Scholarship recognizes interns who demonstrate dedication, curiosity, and a commitment to growing with Burke Construction Group. Interns who successfully complete their internship and continue their experience with Burke may be eligible to receive the scholarship as a way of supporting their continued education and professional growth.

Yes! All Burke internships are paid. Our current range is based on experience and year in school.

Once your application is in, our team reviews it and reaches out within one to two weeks to schedule a virtual interview. That first conversation is a chance for us to learn about your goals and for you to ask questions about the role. Candidates who move forward are invited to an in-person interview at our office, where you’ll meet the team you’d be working with. Final decisions follow shortly after.

Summer interns work 30 to 40 hours per week and fall and spring interns work 20 to 25 hours per week, so the schedule fits around classes. Our summer program typically runs from mid-May through mid-August, with start dates adjusted to your school’s academic calendar.

Yes, internships at Burke Construction Group can lead to full-time opportunities. Throughout your internship, we conduct regular check-ins to discuss your progress, provide feedback and help you take on new responsibilities. Interns who demonstrate strong performance, initiative and a commitment to continued growth may be considered for future positions with Burke.

Absolutely. If you are interested in more than one pathway, you can apply to both as long as you can connect it to what you’re studying and your career goals.

Think of your interview as a chance to tell us your story. We want to hear what excites you, what you hope to experience during your internship and where you want your career to take you. Be ready to share how you work with a team, take initiative, solve problems and handle challenges when they come up. There is no perfect answer, so bring your personality, ask questions and help us understand what you could bring to Burke.

Absolutely! We understand that school comes first, so we will work with you to create a schedule around your summer classes. During the fall and spring semesters, interns typically work about 20 to 25 hours per week so they can balance their internship with a full course load.
