Why Burke?
Burke’s reputation as a relationship-based general contractor is based on our ongoing engagement in every project phase, providing accessibility and support to clients beyond completion.
With over 200 years of collective expertise, Burke’s leadership epitomizes excellence. While our roots lie in construction, we believe in the paramount power of our people. Our steadfast commitment revolves around nurturing and developing our team, setting an unparalleled standard in leadership that paves the way for future generations.
Kevin BurkeChief Executive OfficerKevin is a true visionary in construction management, crafting building solutions that make a lasting impact. He has led Burke Construction Group as it has grown into an ENR Top 400 general contractor licensed in 26 states. His commitment to excellence, lasting client relationships and a generational approach to leadership have shaped Burke's culture. Kevin believes lasting success is built through integrity, accountability and investing in people. Kevin holds a degree in engineering from Kansas State University, where he was inducted into the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering Hall of Fame. When he isn't working, Kevin enjoys cycling, and most of his mornings begin with a ride.
Thad Lawrence, AP BD+CChief Operating Officer / PrincipalThad is a seasoned construction professional specializing in project management and preconstruction, setting the strategy and standards that drive successful project delivery. He partners with clients from project inception, translating early ideas into practical, buildable solutions while fostering collaboration every step of the way. His steady leadership, strategic mindset and commitment to quality help teams navigate complex challenges with confidence. As a certified U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Manager, Thad brings specialized expertise to federal and sustainability-focused projects. He thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments where strong relationships and shared goals drive success. Outside the office, he enjoys cooking and can hold his own in any kitchen.
Dimitri MihaloliakosSenior Vice President – Estimating / PrincipalDimitri leads estimating at Burke, drawing on over two decades in the discipline to price and plan projects across the firm's portfolio. He works directly with clients during preconstruction, turning early concepts into accurate budgets that hold through construction. In Business Magazine named Dimitri a "40 Under 40" honoree, and he stays active in Southern Nevada's commercial development community. For Dimitri, working at Burke is more than a career, it is an opportunity to help others grow, build meaningful projects and create a lasting impact for both his team. Around the house is a different story: he'll cheerfully admit he breaks more than he fixes, so don't let him near the toolbox!
Jim ColegroveBurke Special Projects - Managing PartnerJim started with Burke in 2009 as an independent contractor and quickly saw an opening the company hadn't yet filled: a dedicated tenant improvement division. That idea became Burke Special Projects (BSP), which he leads today. With more than 30 years in construction, Jim runs BSP end-to-end, moving fast on the tight timelines that tenant improvement work demands and keeping clients close to real-time market conditions. While Jim now carries himself as an established professional, he showcased his talent in a rock band and captivated audiences with his long hair.
Jason Goudie, CPAChief Financial OfficerJason leads accounting and finance at Burke, bringing more than 30 years in the field and over 20 years in leadership roles. A Southern Nevada native and UNLV Lee Business School graduate, he knows the local market and the relationships that drive business here. His focus is to sharpen the financial processes, supporting cross-team collaboration and finding efficiencies that show up on the bottom line. Off the clock, Jason is a lifelong golfer; he's held a single-digit handicap for nearly 40 years and is still waiting on that first hole-in-one.
Debbie SchmittVice President - Finance / AccountingDebbie brings a wealth of accounting experience to Burke, with a focus on the financial management side of construction. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from UNLV and has built her career around mentoring the people who work alongside her, helping newer accountants grow into their roles. Outside the office, Debbie loves outdoor sports, though the feeling isn't always mutual. She's broken an elbow mountain biking and dislocated a hip four-wheeling, so pickleball has become her new go-to.
John Travassos, LEED AP BD+CCorporate Vice President - Project ExecutiveWith a career spanning over four decades, John has amassed unparalleled experience and occupied numerous leadership roles within Burke. As a LEED AP BD+C, he combines technical knowledge with a practical approach to guiding teams and supporting clients. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of construction professionals while fostering a strong culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement. Known for his infectious personality and unmistakable laugh, John brings energy to every project and every conversation. Keep in mind where you meet John for lunch, though, as he dislikes food that looks like it did when it was alive.
Gitana CafassoVice President - Marketing & StrategyGitana Cafasso joined Burke just before graduating from UNLV and has grown into her current role as Vice President of Marketing and Strategy over her career with the company. She leads Burke's branding, marketing and strategic growth, with a particular focus on connecting teams to leadership and strengthening the culture that keeps people at Burke long-term. She also has been an instrumental asset in influencing the next generation as she is the lead of our Internship Program. Beyond Burke, Gitana is actively involved in AGC / NCA, CREDA and AMI. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and exploring new places with her family, with recent adventures including Finland, Aruba and Tahiti!
